Privacy Policy
A photo can be yours to treasure even when someone else took it. Here’s where it goes when you make a book, who can see the result, and what you can remove.
When you start a book
The studio is for adults. Please get permission to use the photo and, for a child pictured, permission from their parent or legal guardian. A first name or nickname is enough for a story. Leave school names, addresses and sensitive details out of the story text.
When you submit a project, we use your signed-in account ID, selected photos, story notes and style choices to create your book. We store the project, drafts, illustrations and finished files so you can return to them. OpenAI processes submitted material for safety checks, writing and illustration. People preparing and checking your edition can review its contents.
What stays on this device?
The separate photo-only album saves its photos and pages in this browser. When you start a hardcover order, the approved print files are uploaded to our private storage and sent to Lulu for file validation before payment. Your original photo files remain on your device. The illustrated studio can briefly hold a starting photo in the browser tab before submission. Readers can save your place on the device. Some delivery forms temporarily save contact fields in the tab so you can resume.
When you pay or request delivery
We send Stripe your account email and order reference for checkout and receipts. You enter your payment details and billing address with Stripe. We use transaction references, amounts and payment or refund status to manage your order.
We use the name, contact details and US mailing address supplied for the order. Lulu receives delivery details to quote shipping, then the printable book and shipping information to fulfill your order. Delivery partners use the contact and address details needed to get the package to you. An address may be needed for a quote before a copy is ordered. When shipping emails are enabled, Resend uses the order contact’s email and private gift link to send the shipment notice.
Who can open a gift?
A gift link is private by possession. Anyone you send it to, or anyone they forward it to, can read the book and access the gift and order options that the link provides. Share it directly with someone you trust. Purchasing a family book does not make it a public sample.
Service records and deletion
OpenAI provides sign-in and AI processing. Cloudflare provides website hosting and private project storage; Vercel supports production processing. We use hosted storage and processing for accounts, projects and orders, including temporary working files used to prepare an edition. We record service usage, including signed-in studio activity, generation counts and order events, to operate the service, understand usage and reconcile payments and production.
You can remove eligible projects from your bookshelf. A book tied to checkout or a gift can be held to fulfill the order. Downloads, printed copies and copies already shared with others cannot be recalled. Order, usage and production records may remain after a project is removed for fulfillment, accounting, fraud prevention and resolving requests. Removal from the shelf does not guarantee immediate erasure from provider logs, backups or temporary production files. Contact us for a review of information retained for your project.
If you need help reviewing or removing family information, you can request help even if someone else made the book. Tell us which book or account is involved. We may need to verify your authority before disclosing or changing it.
